Clayton State University’s Department of Continuing Education Offers HVAC Certificate Program
The Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning program provides students with the specialized skills to perform service and repair procedures in the areas of
light commercial heating and air conditioning. HVAC training will prepare you for employment as a heating, ventilation and air conditioning technician. Within each of these areas are opportunities for specialization. Technicians tend to specialize either in installation or maintenance and repair but it is certainly possible to become adept at all areas. With the appropriate HVAC training you may find employment with small heating and air conditioning businesses or with a larger equipment manufacturer or wholesaler. The HVAC program consists of three modules and must be taken in sequence.
MODULE I
An introduction to the basic concepts and theories of refrigeration cycle. Topics include: the laws of thermodynamics, pressure and temperature relationships, heat-transfer, and safety.
MODULE II
Students will be provided with the skills and knowledge to test and service major components of refrigeration
cycle. Topics include compressors, condensers, evaporators, metering devices, service procedures, refrigeration systems and safety.
MODULE III
Students will be provided with the skills and knowledge to perform heat load calculations and duct design. Electrical and Mechanical trouble-shooting will be also be included.
