Session I: Digging
Up the Past!
June 8-26,
2009 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM**
Monday through Friday
Let your child become an
archeologist or a historian this summer as we kick off the summer with our
exciting first session – Digging up the Past! Each week of our three-week
session will feature a new study unit. Children will be immersed in
cross-curricular units on Dinosaurs, Ancient Civilizations, and Georgia History!
While gaining a head start for the upcoming school year with academic classes in
Reading & Writing, Math, Science, and Social Studies, children will also broaden
their scope of experience with our exciting exploratory classes. Our engaging
field trips and fantastic special guests will reinforce the material students
study during the classroom sessions as well as provide the opportunity for
up-close, hands-on learning! With our units on dinosaurs and ancient
civilizations, students will broaden their scope of personal awareness as we
study the history of our earth and the similarities and differences of the great
civilizations of the past with our own culture today. Children will also learn
great life lessons from some history’s greatest figures that have played a part
in Georgia’s past such as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Joel Chandler Harris,
Johnny Mercer, President Jimmy Carter and many more. Children will learn to
appreciate all the freedoms they enjoy today from those who have come before
them and perhaps even be inspired to become the next great Georgia orator, civil
leader, famous author, historian, musician or archeologist!
